kagebros
kagepro used to be big big ngl. if u were around like 2010s youtube kagepro songs were everywhere on the internet. iirc i discovered kagepro in like 2015 or maybe 2016 and i became a fan in like 2016- early 2018. i got into it 2 years after the hype died 💔
is genuinely crazy i remember how popular kagepro used to be but now its kinda forgotten 😭but only in the west because kagepro fandom is still going strong on the eastern side. like jp and kr kagepro fandom is still big. i see kagepro tweets that still get 100k likes on jp twitter. kagepro was my alien stage.
like kagepro actually used to be so popular like so many popular artists on social media used to draw kagepro fanart. it was an actual cultural phenomenon like undertale and fnaf and homestuck 💔and im 90% sure every single person who was around 2011-2017 youtube listened to a kagepro song before or atleast saw what it looks like.
it makes me happy that kagepro is like japanese early gen z's cultural internet zeitgeist. the same way undertale took over the internet in 2015-2016 and every gen z kid was into it.
speaking of fandoms and whatnot
i wish otaku culture was as good in the west as it is in japan. bro japanese otaku are genuinely so dedicated they get into one piece of media when they were 12 and theyre like 30 years old now and they still love it just as much they used to when they were a kid.
i feel like fandoms in the west die after like a month 😭it dies so quickly bro. but in japan theres still decades old fandoms that are still going strong and people drawing fanart everyday
i love seeing jp unc kagepro fans talk abt their youth and how much they used to love kagepro. my favorite pasttime is going to the comment section of old kagepro vids and jp kagebros talking abt how cringe they used to be acting like they were part of the main cast of characters😭its so heartwarming 🩷
