(long ass title) anyways omgg i was thinking abt shonentai again. i miss thinking abt them. my uncles. i havent posted a shonentai song in forever i missed them so bad. i was thinking today abt how influential shonentai was to modern day kpop and jpop and other idol groups. lowkey paved the way

btw this song is a cover of the blow monkeys' it doesnt have to be this way. i love the intro of this and the violins. this ver is better but i like the chorus in shonentai's ver more

Today's song of the day is まいったネ 今夜 (Isn't Tonight a Bummer?) by Shonentai! feels like its been a long time since ive posted a shonentai song. this isnt one of my fav shonentai songs but i appreciate it for being a little bit different from their usual. jazz idol song 🤯🤯 theres a version of this song with more brass in it and i prefer that version but i couldnt find it because copyright 😭

also this performance of this song is soo goud i couldnt find any video of it except this guy reacting to it 😭so we'll have to settle for less 😔also i had no idea there were shonentai reaction vids 💀

anyways pls pls pls watch this performance bro its so good. theyre so in sync its actually crazy. this might be one of my fav shonentai performances ever look how smooth their movements are. theyre literally floating!!! maittane konya is one of their calmer songs but their choreography still has the same energy as their loud songs its so incredible. everything this dude says is true

Today's song of the day is 仮面舞踏会 (Masquerade Ball aka KAMEN BUDOKAI 🗣️🗣️🗣️) by Shonentai! their most iconic song ever. the greatest debut single ever actually. best selling single of 1986 and ranked number 1 on the charts!!!!!!!

my fav version of this song i think even tho its not full version. so loud and energetic

also little fun fact if anyone gaf when they performed this song at the 37th(i think?) kohaku uta gassen (japan's biggest music show basically) the person who announced the song accidentally said kamen rider instead of kamen budokai and shonentai got pissed off abt that lmao

also im so glad were getting closer to summer its time for shonentai summer almost

Today's song of the day is One Step Beyond by Shonentai! I love this song so much. its interesting to me how, even though this song was composed by an American, it still sounds distinctly japanese. anyways i love the part where they say "Get There!" in repeat of each other its so catchy to me for some reason. 

and also today is shonentai's debut anniversary 12/12/1985 (well technically it was yesterday if were talking abt japan timezone but whatever anyways)

this song's dance choreography was done by Michael Jackson's choreographer Michael Peters! how amazing is that. did u guys know shonentai were originally gonna also debut in America. i cant stop thinking abt this bruh. they even signed a contract with Warner Bros and recorded an entire album sung fully in english that never saw the light of the day im gonna kill myself.

for their (never-accomplished) american debut, they even appeared on various American tv shows such as the merv griffin show, late night with david letterman, and the abc morning show with jermaine jackson as the host. they also were at the very first mtv vmas in 1984 and performed there on stage. i would literally kill a man to see all this shonentai lost media 

sadly they never debuted in america tho because americans didnt quite know how to react to shonentai's "asian-ness" i guess or something idk how to explain it

also another random fact abt shonentai is that they were at the legendary 1985 live aid where queen performed their iconic bohemian rhapsody song isnt that so awesome guys

Today's song of the day is 日本よいとこ摩訶不思議 (Wonderful Mysterious Japan) by Shonentai! this might be one of my fav shonentai dances of all time. god such a fun song with such fun and insane choreography

I need everyone to see this performance. shonentai was actually insane for this. they really played out an entire fight scene in the middle of the song using bo staffs and nunchucks. incredible.

Today's song of the day is ダイヤモンド・アイズ (Diamond Eyes) by Shonentai! ngl i used to think this song is mid but then for some reason it suddenly played in my head on a random day and now i cant get the tune out of my head. its so catchy. i cant get the JAJA UMA JAJA UMA JAJA UMA part out of my head oh my goud. and also the kimi ni GIVE UP! it keeps replaying in my mind. this syncopated rhythm is too good

sometimes i remember that mamoru / tuxedo mask and the 3 starlights from sailor moon were based off of shonentai and i giggle a bit

my favorite band being referenced in one of the most popular anime/manga series of all time i know thats right!

everytime i discover a new version of abc the shonentai demon appears at night and grabs me by the ankles and drags me to hell

Today's song of the day is What's Your Name? by Shonentai! One of the very first shonentai songs i ever listened to. very fun and loud song. also that cover is so hard

FUN FACT !! shonentai was so popular over asia that they spawned numerous other male idol groups during the 80s. One example is the Little Tigers, who are considered Taiwan's first boy band. This is their cover of what's your name and it lowkey goes hard. The Little Tigers then inspired other Taiwanese idol groups. funny how both shonentai and little tigers got a member named Nicky in it

Today's song of the day is ダンス ダンス ダンス (Dance Dance Dance) by Shonentai! That intro changed my life fr omg its so good. shonentai is so good oh my goodness. that intro feels like sitting on the balcony of a high rise apartment located next to a tropical beach, the cool wind blowing in ur hair as you look down at all the little people playing in the sand and the water as you sip from you ice-cold drink... but somehow this feels like a winter song
