Today's song of the day is Matryoshka by Kenshi Yonezu (Hachi in his vocaloid days) but i put the mafumafu cover because this the best ver of the song! a banger from the past. mafumafu's cover of matryoshka is so good he cooked. all the different voices he puts on just fits so perfectly with the chaotic tone of the song. so weird and experimental in a way. the goofy adlibs he puts in between some of the lyrics and that raw scream at the end so peak. its just so fun to listen to. the best version of this song idc.
did u guys know mafumafu made a new cover of matryoshka and omg the downgrade is insane. all the weirdness is gone from the original and he turned it into a generic j-rock song </3 i do not like the contrast between his deep voice and high pitched voice. its too cute for a song that was meant to be weird. the part at 2:25 so bad what happened to all that buildup he did in the original. in the old ver, it had so much energy it was like he was commanding an entire room. this one. nothing...
literally all the flavor from the original lost. actually tragic. the only part i like is the part in the bridge at 2:38. i do like the instrumentals there but everything else is so ass omg... and that scream at the end has 0 emotion bro fell off so hard.
i mean this version has better production but everything unique was lost like this cover sounds exactly like the 240828 other generic ass matryoshka covers
